Bucco Reef and Nylon Pool Tours

As my friend and I arrived at Store Bay to have lunch, we discussed how long it has been since we visited Bucco Reef and Nylon Pool. We arrived at the conclusion that it has been quite a while and we needed to revisit. It was an act of serendipity that a gentleman who goes by the name of Linx (not the card service) approached us and asked if we wanted beach chairs.

We informed him that we were not so interested in the chairs however we wanted to visit the reef. He responded immediately that he can arrange for us. In addition to this he also decided to throw in two beach chairs free of charge while we wait for the glass bottom boat to arrive.

While eating, he found us and provided us with the tickets for the sailing aboard "Cool Runnings" and told us where to locate him when we were ready of the lounge chairs. We changed to our swim wear and went to relax till it would be time for our sailing.

Soon enough, Cool Runnings approached from the distance and docked at the bay. We began to board this vessel and get acquainted with our Captain Sharkie. Before the sailing, he and is Co-Captain made sure to carry out maritime regulations and safety procedures that I have not experienced before on a Glass Bottom Tour. It was very professional of him and his crew and I applaud them for their dedication for safety.

Aside from the safety briefing, the fun began, this boat is one of the few if not the only one that carries light refreshments, music and entertainment. Sharkie provided his passengers with a myriad of entertainment with his personality, jokes, musical variety and his dance moves.

Upon our arrival to Bucco Reef he invited everyone to the lower level to gaze upon the beauty of the reef that protects a portion of the western coast of Tobago. To our surprise we were also greeted by some of the dwellers in the reef, namely sharkies friend "Freddie" came up to the glass for a photo opportunity.

Sharkie then carried the tour to a location called "Shark City" where the group were invited to take a swim in the ocean where sharks are to be seen. Unfortunately, the only shark found in the water for this tour was our captain, nevertheless, a few eels and parrot fish were found close to the coral formations. Our tour then took us to the key destination, Nylon Pool. Nylon pool is a wonder in which a shallow sandy bar that exists out in the ocean. It has been legend that the sand here makes you 10 years younger when you rub the magical sand. (NB: there is no theory that proves or disproves this. Take it as you may).

Before our return to Store bay, were were carried to "No Mans Land" another interesting location in which a small sandy archipelago of Tobago appears and disappears based on the tide. In addition on our return trip also included a short tour of the mangrove and some picturesque scenes along the coast of Tobago.

I would recommend this tour for anyone who has never been and for those that want to have an amazing experience, ask for Cool Running with Captain Sharkie.
