Korean Dining in Trinidad - You and I Restaurant

Wednesday night I had the opportunity to visit a Korean restaurant You and I within the Maraval area. This restaurant brings a new dimension to our local culinary experience. It allows for interactive dining.
There are two specific dishes which allow for this interactive dining; shabu shabu and korean bbq.
Shabu shabu is a dish of thinly sliced meat and vegetables boiled in a special broth. The name is derived from the sound made when the ingredients are stirred in the cooking pot. It's is served with a dipping sauce with chive, garlic and pepper. There's also kimchee and gochugaru provided if you want to add it to your broth or have it by itself. This food is cooked piece by piece by you (the diner) at the table.
Korean BBQ is one in which they bring the seasoned pieces of meat to the table and you can grill them right there to your liking. Now I haven't been able to try this as yet but the next time I visit, I will be having this.
There is also Korean rice wine available but I will say stick to the raspberry one, the soju is a doesn't have much of a taste but is a smoother version of puncheon.
Are there any other restaurants you think can compare with this Korean restaurant

Mot Mot Lodge - Tobago

If you ever need to make a grand getaway to Tobago with at least 10 of your best friends and you need to find the most awesome place to stay, you need to go to the Mot Mot Lodge. This gem is nestled away in a dirt track off Arnos Vale Road, Plymouth.

We were in complete amazement of this house as soon as we arrived. The manager, Carlton was very friendly and accommodating. The house sits alone alongside a cliff on the northern side of Tobago. There is an infinity pool accompanied with a balcony and Patio area. The balcony area can be made to open out from the living room to get the true rustic experience of a cabin in the middle of nowhere. The beautiful sunrises in this lodge can only be surpassed by the breath-taking sunsets that can be collected from the cliffside.

The Lodge comes complete with a fully operational kitchen and all required appliances and cutlery to suit your needs. There’s one master bedroom with a Jacuzzi bathtub, three additional bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large living room with pool table and a laundry room. The place comes with six beds and an air mattress for additional persons. The place has a max accommodation of 12 persons, so get your 11 friends ready and get the info for this location here. There's also information attached on my blog to get further acquainted with this lovely destination right here. One of my very talented friends, Josh Brizan took the following photos of this lodge.

If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s a track where you can travel down the cliffside to where the rocky base meets the ocean. We made the trip and its moderately easy, you just need to be careful on the rocks.

It’s truly an enjoyable stay, I encourage you to spend a weekend here at least (though a weekend is too short).

Tell me, are there any hidden gems like this elsewhere in your country? I would like to visit and have my personal experience there.

If you want to stay here, you can find the info here

Club Sahara - Tobago

One night in Tobago, My friend and I were looking for nightclub. As the natural place to visit is the popular club Shade. However this night was extremely dead for this club. I remember a friend told me that there's a new club open on Shirvan road.

On our way along Shirvan road, my friend Ambika and I found this club named Sahara. Need I say it was one of the best nights in Tobago. The club was very lively and the crowd enjoyed it thoroughly.

Travelling with Friends

Now everyone here I assume have traveled a couple times with their families, but how many have you taken a getaway with friends?

I have traveled with friends on a few extended weekend getaways and it can be relaxing difference. The right friends can keep the vacation fun and lively. There can be tons of exploring, laughter and guaranteed memories for life.

I've vacationed with friends to Tobago, Down the Islands and sometimes Mayaro, (fyi we wanna plan an international trip soon but we need to organize logistics first). Each and every one of those trips have been memorable and I am extremely happy with the amazing group of friends and the things that we end up doing.

How about you guys? How many trips have you gone on with friends?

Bikini Bottom - DDI

Trinidad has a few lovely islands off the North Coast where are some lovely seaside houses. These are amazing vacation spots for weekends and fishing trips. My friends and I recently booked a weekend at a house called Bikini Bottom. This location is not on the main side of the island and is a bit quieter.

This location comes with a large jeti that allows for a greater fishing experience. On the property, there are three different buildings. The main building can accommodate 10 persons, the secondary can accommodate 4 and the annex can hold 6 to 8 persons. In addition, Miss Ann Marie lives on the compound above the main building. In addition to the large front yard and jeti, there is also a seawater pool, an outdoor kitchen and a bonfire pit.

One of the key reasons for visiting Down the Islands is the breath-taking view of the Milky Way without the annoyance of light pollution that cannot be avoided on the mainland of Trinidad.
In addition, Ann Marie’s husband is always there to assist you in fishing as he never gives up a moment to fish. Every second we picked up our rods to go fish, he would follow in a couple minutes and join us on the jeti. One evening we caught a large tarpon fish that gave us a good chase but we were eventually successful.

What Island home do you guys stay in? Do you have any kind of vacation getaway like this?

Also you can contact these guys here.

Valencia Eco Resort

Another cool vacation spot in Trinidad is the Valencia Eco Resort. We were able to meet the owner, Vishnu to give us a tour of the resort before booking it for a friend’s birthday weekend getaway. Valencia Eco Resort is an environmental and ecological inn, where there are 3 large Cabins and seven cabanas. The cabanas are more suited for couples or small families. In addition there are several sheds for people who just want to spend a day at the resort.

We opted to spend a weekend there for one of our friend’s birthday getaways. The resort is very laid back and the members of staff are very accommodating. The Owner, Vishnu was a great deal of fun, he even brought us coconuts on one of the mornings we stayed there. He even went with u to their small archery setup to practice a bit.

There are also some of the most beautiful animals on the island found within this resort. There are monkeys, parrots, macaws, toucans along with several other lovely animals. For the fishing enthusiasts, there is a tilapia pond available to all guests who wish to do a little fishing. Furthermore there’s a pool, basketball court and small field for football. There are no televisions in the cabins however there is one communal hut in which there is a TV room. But to be honest at such a lovely place who needs to watch TV.

I would thoroughly recommend any group wishing to look for an environmental getaway to try the Valencia ECO Resort as your next Vacation.

Have you stayed here before? How was your experience and are there any other interesting Eco Resorts in Trinidad and Tobago?
